FALL CLASSES
OUR GANG (ages 6-7)
This high-energy class introduces children to the fundamentals of theater, using songs, drama games, skits, and theater fun. It is designed to build self-confidence and stimulate imagination. This age group is not eligible to audition for the session production of Narnia.
ACTING 101*Core Drama (ages 8-18)
This multi-faceted beginning drama class deals with the fundamentals of acting, staging, movement and interpretation. Learn how to use your senses and draw upon them to develop characters. Other areas covered may include improvisation, pantomime and reader’s theater.
MOVEMENT FOR THEATER *Core Dance (ages 8-18)
Learn the fundamentals of tap and jazz. Get ready to get up and move! This class will introduce the student to movement for theater. Basic jazz moves and beginning rhythm will be emphasized. Students will learn how to get through a dance call back, even if they aren’t seasoned dancers. Jazz and tap shoes beneficial but not mandatory.
STAND UP AND SING *Core Voice (ages 8-18)
This dynamic beginning voice class will cover all the elements of good singing techniques. Students will receive training in how to use their voices correctly and how to have a confident audition. Emphasis will be placed on proper breathing and support. This important class is for everyone who has ever wanted to sing on stage!
MOVIE MAKING MANIA (ages 13-18) Prerequisite- any core class
This course is designed to develop in students new insights in film making that will change how they watch TV and movies, and will also educate them on how to produce their own clever and concise short films. In class we will use camcorders (students must provide a camera for their personal use), and discover how the pros shoot dialogue, use montage shots, and safely film fight scenes. Your family movies may never be the same again!
IMPROV (ages 12-18) Prerequisite-any core class
Learn to rehearse without a script and work on a scene without any idea what is coming up next. Learn the skill of reacting to other actors in spontaneous, unrehearsed scenes, using conflict, contrast, physical positions, props, and character skills. This class is a prerequisite for auditioning for the CYT-North Idaho 2009 Improvisation Team
Classes run Tuesdays (starting September 9) from 4pm-6pm
